Fake debt collection scam — arrest/warrant threat or gift-card payment demand for alleged debt
fake-debt-collection-scam
What this tier means
High-confidence threat indicator — phishing, impersonation, BEC, or scam pattern. Strong contributor to the trash decision.
How Gorganizer detects this
Body contains a debt collection context — an alleged outstanding debt, unpaid balance, account sent to collections, or a law firm/attorney contacting about a delinquent account — AND an illegal pressure tactic that real debt collectors are prohibited from using under the FDCPA: an arrest/warrant threat ("a warrant for your arrest has been issued", "federal agents will be dispatched"), a criminal-charges framing for what is a civil consumer debt, or a demand to pay via gift cards, prepaid debit cards, Bitcoin, or wire transfer. The FDCPA explicitly prohibits threatening arrest for consumer debt — real collection agencies send written notice, include dispute rights, and accept payment via check, ACH, or credit card. If you receive a genuine debt collection notice, verify it at AnnualCreditReport.com or contact the original creditor directly — never pay an unsolicited email collector, especially with gift cards.
False-positive guard
Every signal in Gorganizer feeds a multi-module score — never a sole verdict. This is a threat-tier signal — it adds a strong contribution to the trash score. The full pipeline still requires convergence across multiple modules + a margin over the safety floor before deletion happens, and Gmail's trash (30-day recovery) is always used — never permanent delete.
About the scoring engine
Gorganizer's scoring engine emits 2,143+ signals across six modules — headers, sender, subject, body, attachments, and structural metadata. Every email is scored by every module independently; the final verdict requires multiple modules to agree and the trash score to beat the safety floor by a margin.
Sacred safety guards — never delete starred emails, replies, calendar invites, receipts/invoices, or attachments — apply unconditionally regardless of any signal.
