Fake job offer background check fee scam — you are hired/selected + pay upfront background check / screening / training materials fee before start date

What this tier means
High-confidence threat indicator — phishing, impersonation, BEC, or scam pattern. Strong contributor to the trash decision.
How Gorganizer detects this
Fake job offer requiring an upfront payment before the victim can start work — framed as a "background check fee," "screening fee," "training materials fee," "registration fee," or "equipment purchase" that the company promises to reimburse on the first paycheck. The job is fictional; no reimbursement is ever made. Common vectors: remote data entry jobs, work-from-home customer service roles, mystery shopper programs, and fake package reshipping jobs. FTC 2024: job scams are the #2 fraud category for people under 30; the median loss is $2,000 and rising. Red flags: the job required no interview or a very brief chat interview; the "employer" asks for payment via gift cards, Zelle, money orders, or prepaid debit cards; "you are approved" or "you are hired" language appears immediately after minimal interaction.
False-positive guard
Every signal in Gorganizer feeds a multi-module score — never a sole verdict. This is a threat-tier signal — it adds a strong contribution to the trash score. The full pipeline still requires convergence across multiple modules + a margin over the safety floor before deletion happens, and Gmail's trash (30-day recovery) is always used — never permanent delete.
About the scoring engine
Gorganizer's scoring engine emits 2,143+ signals across six modules — headers, sender, subject, body, attachments, and structural metadata. Every email is scored by every module independently; the final verdict requires multiple modules to agree and the trash score to beat the safety floor by a margin.
Sacred safety guards — never delete starred emails, replies, calendar invites, receipts/invoices, or attachments — apply unconditionally regardless of any signal.
